My name is Terrence Ward, and I am the owner of  My Calgary Geek, also known as Ward Consultants.  I’ve been developing professionally for over 10 years in various programming disciplines.  I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Information Services and have worked on numerous projects ranging from the very little to the somewhat large.  Having started to program at the tender age of 6 years old, code has become as natural to me as eating, or breathing air.

Humble Beginnings

Having become a code junkie at age 6, it put a bit of a damper on my social standing in school.  As a result, while most children were having run at lunch or playing inter-murals after school; I was busy learning everything I could about programming in BASIC.

I first started developing in basic on a small game computer given to me by my father.  I remember clearly when I was first infected with the incredible passion to program.  I was playing PAC man on my Atari 600 XL, when my Aunt Debbie asked me If I wanted to see something neat she learned in school.  I agreed, but was dismayed when she ended my game in progress.  She pulled out the cartridge from the machine and rebooted it without a cartridge, and tapped in a simple program much like the one shown in the video.  I couldn’t believe it! She made the computer do *her* will.  It was absolutely amazing to me, and I have spent the better part of my life learning to make them do mine.

The power of friendships

Over the years, I’ve developed friendships with others of my kind, serious developers with an eye for quality assurance.  With them, we make up Ward Consultants, and we are here to serve both locally as well as remotely for our distance customers.
